Handicapper's Convention |
Join Dan Illman from the Daily Racing Form for a convention at Arlington Park Racetrack, September 11, 2010! |
Spend a day, a weekend, or longer at beautiful Arlington Park with Dan Illman, Handicapping Editor of the Daily Racing Form and your fellow horseplayers. Whether it's analyzing pedigrees, dissecting trips, or reviewing past performances, there's a seat and program awaiting you. |
The marquee races for the convention weekend are a pair of Grade 3 races for two year olds: the Arlington Washington Futurity and Arlington Washington Lassie. Both are contested on the polytrack as one turn miles with a purse of $100,000. They are considered prep races for the Breeder's Cup Juvenile events. |

Unlock the Secrets of Freshmen Sires! |
Seminars will be held to teach new skills to handicappers, while allowing time to converse and have fun with other enthusiastic horseplayers. The goals of the convention are twofold. First, it is to share ideas and knowledge, much like the weekly handicapping chats held on this website. Secondly, to give horseplayers of all different skills and backgrounds a chance to come together in a common setting. |
Due to the number of people attending and the nature of the event, seating for the event has been upgraded from common Box Seats to Executive Box Seats (final seat location is TBA). In addition, seating, programs, admissions, and parking will be compensated and funded by Arlington Park. |
Weekend events include the following: |
The two aforementioned G3 races for juveniles. |
A handicapping contest sponsored by Arlington Park. It's a $100 bankroll contest with the top finishers to advance directly to the Coast Casinos Horseplayer World Series. Full details are located here. |
Arlington Park will card a special race on Saturday for convention goers. The race will be mentioned in the Arlington program, and attendees will make a presentation in the Winners' Circle. |
There will be raffles on both of the convention days. |
Potential attendees can freely ask questions about the events or to reserve your spot at the convention. Please direct emails to Paul Mazur at: formblogconvention@gmail.com . |
Can't make it to Arlington for both days of the convention? Not to worry. Committing to one of the two weekend days is fine, as long as it's specified. Please make your reservations by Midnight CST on Thursday September 2, 2010. |
